Legal Briefing - ‘Introducing qLegal: Providing the small print for BIG IDEAS’

Brought to you by Cambridge Wireless

qLegal, established by the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS) at Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL) in 2013, supports innovation by providing free legal and regulatory advisory services to early-stage, start-up technology companies in the Digital Shoreditch and Silicon Fen areas.

Registration for this event is now closed.

About the event

qLegal services are provided by high calibre postgraduate law students under the guidance of legal professionals from collaborating law firms and academic staff, and aims to inspire and develop the next generation of lawyers capable of effectively representing tech start-ups and entrepreneurs. This event will be taking place at ARM, Cambridge.

If you would like to find out more about qLegal and key issues arising from the use of open source licences in software development and business, register now as places are limited for this exclusive Cambridge Wireless Legal Briefing. This evening session is kindly hosted and led by Phil David, our Legal SIG Champion and General Counsel at ARM, who will discuss the implications for businesses working with open source code. Ian Walden, Professor of Information and Communications Law and head of qLegal, will consider the different legal dimensions of open source licensing.

qLegal offers free specialised legal guidance covering a range of issues, including the management of intellectual property assets, business structures, commercial agreements and regulatory frameworks that impact business activities, such as data protection rules. qLegal also provides the legal assistance in a number of different ways, from one-to-one advice sessions to ‘Small print’ workshop on topics of common concern, such as confidentiality.

Please note that Cambridge Wireless Legal Briefings are popular and places are limited. In the event of being oversubscribed, priority will be given to technology companies in the first instance, therefore confirmation of an assigned place will be given ten working days prior to the event.

We are extremely grateful to Phil David, Legal SIG Champion and General Counsel at ARM for leading and hosting this event. Canapés will be provided during registration and networking.
