About the event

ROI and how to build a business case for a training Initiative

Any training initiative needs to demonstrate its value to the business, particularly for budget holders.

Nick Smith from eam Consulting will demonstrate how to make a clear business case for training by building a “chain of impact”. This approach will help attendees to develop and achieve their business’ ambitions. These could include developing new services, increasing profitability or reducing waste as well as designing training. Nick will demonstrate how to analyse if the interventions are working and the required changes are being realised. The system also provides clarity that enables any issues to be identified and addressed sooner rather than later to ensure your success.

Elpie Bannister from Boundless Solutions will follow Nick’s talk by demonstrating how to connect a Development Needs Analysis to your organisational strategy. A key element of having the right people with the right capabilities is to have a comprehensive understanding of the skills, knowledge and behaviour required both now and in the future to close the gap between current reality and the required level of knowledge and expertise to achieve the strategic aims of the organisation.

Both speakers will show that by asking insightful questions, you can challenge assumptions to enable a clearer understanding of Learning & Development needs and establish a strategic approach to allocating budget to the most critical areas of development. This will result in more engaged employees and more cohesive and effective teams, as you align development needs with key strategic aims.

  • The use of ‘milestone’ objectives
  • The need for a cost/benefit analysis
  • What might be getting in the way of being able to adopt a more strategic approach to L&D
