Connected Devices SIG ‘Big Data – Big Opportunities’The Internet of Things provides the exciting topic for this SIG. The emerging landscape of ‘big data’ is fast becoming a reality and with it come the challenges of deriving value for both individuals and businesses. Billions of sensors are rapidly producing vast amounts of data, to turn this data into compelling and useful information new server architecture and analysis is required. This event will look at those organisations that are already using the data to drive their businesses forward. With greater amounts of data being ‘mined’ and a reduction in collection costs now could be the time for your organisation to step forward into this brave new world of information.Presentations will be heard from; Rick Robinson, IT Architect at IBM, Jonathan Burr, President, Traveller Information Services Association, Nick Hunn, Onzo and Harry Holmwood, Heldhand CLICK HERE TO REGISTER - Please note this event in now fully booked, but we are running a waiting list.
This event is championed by Antony Rix of TTP, Tim Whittaker of Cambridge Consultants, Nick Hunn of Onzo and Paul Green of Arkessa. We are very grateful to The Cabinet Office for facilitating this event and for Rohde & Schwarz for sponsoring the lunch at this event.
The new Internet of Things promises a world where billions of sensors are connected to the web, sending data about us, the things we own and our environment. The latest communications technologies and low power processors are making the data collection a reality, but to turn that into useful and compelling information need an understanding of how to mine and analyse the resulting data.
The task is massive. Billions of sensors rapidly produce trillions or quadrillions of data readings, generating a problem which has acquired the name “Big Data”. It needs innovative new server architectures to process this data at a realistic cost and customer focussed data analysts who can derive value from it; both for individuals and for businesses that use that intelligence to improve their performance and enable new models. This seminar brings together speakers from companies that have grasped the Big Data baton and are already using data to drive their business. As the quantity of data that can be collected grows and the cost of obtaining each piece of data decreases, their insight is vital to help you understand how to survive in this brave new world of information.
