Software / Open Source

Software plays a key and ever expanding role in the development of products and applications across the wireless sector. Within this, open source is playing an increasingly important role by allowing the sector to concentrate on differentiating technology and by driving in innovation from outside the traditional supply chains through collaborative ecosystems. The Software & Open Source SIG considers issues across the software development life cycle from project initiation and requirements capture through to deployment, user support and community management.

The SIG is championed by:

Phillip Burr from Mentor Graphics and Andrew Savory from Limo Foundation

‘Open Source Software vs Commercial Hardware: When the unstoppable force hits the immovable object’
This SIG offers participants the opportunity to assess the landscape of the latest technology developments in this ever changing field and looks at how best your organisation can adapt its approach accordingly.
This SIG is championed by Andrew Savory of Limo Foundation and Phillip Burr of Mentor Graphics.

Open Source has dramatically changed all aspects of software and device development. When software is a commodity, how do manufacturers differentiate their products? When code is developed rapidly and in the open, what happens to traditional software supply chain models?

Form factors and traditional segmentation of devices are rapidly changing, where your TV has an App Store and your tablet PC is a phone. Are we moving to all-open, all of the time? As we move to the age of over-the-air updates and continuously updated devices, are homebrew modifications an opportunity or a threat?

This every popular SIG is always well attended to ensure your place REGISTER NOW! As with all Cambridge Wireless events not only will you get the chance to access the latest developments affecting your industry, you will also be able to benefit from the excellent networking opportunities built in to all our events.
