Wireless Start-Up Fest 2010

11th November 2010, London

Wireless Start-Up Fest 2010 builds on last year’s phenomenally successful partnership between the two leading industry networks, Cambridge Wireless and Silicon Southwest.  This conference is a ‘must attend’ event for every customer, partner and investor organisation with a serious interest in innovation and start-up in this sector.

The day will feature 12-15 presentations from wireless/mobile start-ups and innovation companies alongside complimentary world class sector experts as keynote speakers.  This event sold out in record time in its inaugural outing and we can guarantee this year will be no different.  Therefore delegates, sponsors and start-ups should not delay in securing their place immediately.

Start-Up Session Topics Include:

The Wireless Enabled Low Carbon Economy

Technology for power monitoring and optimisation will be key to achieving the goals of the Low Carbon Economy and wireless technology offers the flexibility and costs benefits to make this market ‘its own’. This session presents wireless innovation in Smart Grid, Smart Meters, Sensors, and Power Monitoring.

M2M - Internet of Things

Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication and Smart Services experts, Harbor Research, forecast that the number of intelligent device shipments will grow five fold to 430 million units by 2013 – with substantial growth will come from Wireless PAN technology, including ZigBee and other 15.4 related technology, as well as Wireless Sensor Networks. This session looks at the latest technology offered by start-ups in this sector.

The Age of Apps

It’s hard to believe that Apple’s App Store only opened in 2008. Since then others, like Android, have also been racing to catch up. Without doubt the smartphone app market will be one of the hottest areas for growth in the coming years – one recent study by Research2Guidance calculates that this sector could reach $15 billion by 2013 off a base of close to one billion smart phone users worldwide. This is the dawning of the Age of Apps!

Breaking the Bottlenecks – Infrastructure Innovation

The pressure is on the networks. Smartphones can generate eight times the network signal load of a dongle-equipped laptop and, with data traffic doubling every three months, networks are experiencing severe growing pains. On top of that mobile is opening a new market on the ‘home front’ with an estimated 60% of all mobile data traffic originating from home. Smartphones need smart infrastructure – this sessions looks at some of the solutions.

iMed: Mobile Healthcare

Healthcare professionals have identified wireless as a key delivery technology for a better quality and more cost effective service.Meanwhile, the wireless industry has identified medical as one of its most valuable emerging markets. Both the medical and wireless sectors need new ideas, new innovation and new service providers if they are to avoid 'killer-apps' becoming just that!

Come and celebrate with us the innovation and excitement of ‘hot’ companies telling us about their latest development.  Listen to stories of success and challenges from those who have succeeded. Gather vital information from those companies who have invested and what drives them in that process or what they look for in making decisions to invest!
