Fuelled by the huge success of our previous Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) and Model-Driven Systems Engineering (MDSE) event, NMI is holding another technical network meeting on the subject. Again, NMI are grateful to Thales for the use of their excellent Minerva Auditorium and Catalyst venue on its Crawley site, on Wednesday, June 17th 2015.
MDE/MDSE (other acronyms available) is a wide multi-domain field but this event is mostly focussed on electronics and software domains, reflecting the interests of NMI members and guests.
Event Aims
Largely based on feedback from previous attendees, this time, we will be focussing on three main areas:
- User Stories – We love successes, but more importantly, lessons learned through failures
- Getting Modelling adopted – beyond the technical; how to overcome the business, social, skills etc barriers to adoption; the keys to when, why and how you should make the case.
- Tools – presentations and table-top demonstrations
Agenda Highlights
“The Rise and Fall? of Modelling” – Mark Thomas & Alistair Blair, Thales
“Guerrilla MBSE: Implementation ‘on the ground’ – James Towers, Scarecrow/INCOSE
“A Case Study in Model-based Design” – Nick Barratt, GE Intelligent Platforms
“Managing Overwhelming Complexity through Model-Driven Design” – Ian Wilkie, Abstract Solutions
“Adoption of Model-Driven Engineering in Small Workgroups and in Large Organisations” – Graham Reith, MathWorks
“Case Study: Model-Driven Test of Airbus 380 Fuel Systems” – Dr. Steve Wright, UWE plus open discussion led by NMI Systems and Software Leaders Forum chairman, Stuart Jobbins of Softinsys (other speakers from industry and academia awaiting final details – watch this space). This promises to be a well attended and informative event and a chance to learn and share data and opinion in this rapidly changing subject area.
Table Top and Sponsorship Opportunities Spaces remain available for table-top exhibits; sponsorship details available on request. For more information, please get in contact.
