About the event

Are you worried about people stealing your ideas or data? Are you fully aware of all the ways you can protect your company and technology? Are you already working or looking to expand into international markets? Hosted by the University of Essex, this seminar is your opportunity to hear about free services that can help you protect your technology and exploit it by partnering with companies locally, nationally and internationally.

Starting with an introduction to intellectual property you will learn how to use Copyright and Trade Marks to protect your business in a cost effective way; it’s not only about Patents. Almost daily we hear on the news about the risk of cybercrime as we increasingly depend upon the internet and e-mails for communication and trade. Phil Cobley, Regional Cyber Protect Coordinator will outline the risks businesses are now facing and explain how the Cyber Crime Unit is responding to this ever growing threat.

Finally we will provide some practical suggestions on how you can protect your business against cybercrime and signpost you to useful cyber-security resources your business needs to be aware of.

This event has been organised by the Enterprise Europe Network East of England in collaboration with the Regional Cyber Crime Unit Eastern Region Police Special Operations Unit. Relevant to high technology, manufacturing companies and any others looking to out-perform the competition, this event will be of interest to CEO’s, Marketing, Sales and Technical Directors along with IT staff and managers.

Those looking to start a business are also welcome to attend. Networking in an informal environment, there will be ample time for questions and to discuss how to take ideas forward.
