Tech for Good is back!
The meetup group, which started in London, is now in it’s third year in Cambridge. Events aim to bring together people interested in using technology to tackle social issues; from large-scale social change and inequalities, to local civic participation and community building.
Each event focuses on a new topic, inviting those with lived experience and understanding of a particular social issue to join together with hackers, coders, developers and designers to share, improve, troubleshoot or develop ideas and projects that make a difference. Held at the Allia Future Business Centre, the events take place over the course of an evening, with opportunities for informal networking, as well as talks and Q&A.
The Meetup group currently stands at over 600 members. ‘We are so excited to be working with Tech for Good once again in 2017’ said Helen Harding-Male, event organiser at the Future Business Centre. She continued, ‘the meetup embodies everything we are trying to achieve at the centre, supporting start-ups and ventures who want to make a positive impact on people, planet or place – whether through workspace solutions or enterprise support.’
Reviews on the group’s meetup page (“Thought-provoking, door-opening. I look forward to attending again.” “Very informative and inspirational” “inspiring!”) all point to the same conclusion, the event is a must attend for anyone in the Cambridgeshire area with an interest in technology or social change.
The focus at the event on Wednesday 1 March will be education and presenters will be announced shortly.
