Michael Anstey - Partner, Cambridge Innovation Capital

Dr Michael Anstey is a Partner specialising in life science investments. Before joining CIC he was a Principal in the Healthcare Practice Area at The Boston Consulting Group’s (BCG) Toronto office. Michael has experience in advising multinational businesses across North America, Europe, India, and Japan. Michael was also co-founder of an early stage biotechnology company focused on developing small molecule drugs that target protein-protein interactions implicated in disease. Prior to BCG, Michael worked at Oxford Capital Partners, where he focused on investing in early stage life science businesses. Michael earned his DPhil in Zoology in the field of neurobiology from the University of Oxford. Michael manages CIC's investments in Bicycle Therapeutics (NASDAQ: BCYC), Congenica, Immutrin, PredictImmune, PolyProx Therapeutics, Sense Bio, Start Codon and Storm Therapeutics.

Amelia Armour - Partner in Early Stage Funds, Amadeus Capital Partners

Amelia joined Amadeus Capital Partners in 2009 and is a Partner in the Early Stage Fund. Her current investment focus is on autonomous systems, AI and machine learning, cloud computing, digital health, and medical technology. She is a Director on several boards including Xampla, who have developed a plant-based material to replace single-use plastics;  Paragraf who are manufacturing graphene-based electronic devices; Immense Simulations intelligent mobility enabling software company; Riverlane a developer of an operating system for quantum computers and SLAMcore, a spin-out from Imperial College, developing spatial intelligence for autonomous robotics and drones. Amelia is also an active board observer at other companies including enterprise voice assistant company PolyAI and Graphcore, the developer of the Intelligence Processing Unit for next generation machine intelligence. Prior to Amadeus, she worked at Barclays Investment Bank as a manager in the structured capital markets team with responsibility for running a portfolio of multi-jurisdiction transactions. Amelia has also worked in structured finance at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. She qualified as a chartered accountant with Deloitte in the corporate tax department. Amelia holds a BSc in Chemistry and Biology from Durham University and is a mentor on the Judge Business School’s Accelerate Programme.

Kerry Baldwin - Co-founder and Managing Partner, IQ Capital Partners

Kerry Baldwin is the co-founder and Managing Partner of IQ Capital - UK deep tech early stage VC £500m AUM investing from 5th Fund with top decile returns for previous funds.  Chair, British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (2021/22). Honorary Fellow in Entrepreneurship at Cambridge University. Specialist in Reg tech, Sup tech, Cyber, big data and guiding founders through GTM and mar-tech.

Steve Brierley - Founder and CEO, Riverlane

Steve is founder and CEO of Riverlane, which is a building the common Operating System for all quantum computers. He founded the company in 2016 because of his passionate belief that quantum computers capable of accelerating an era of human progress as significant as the industrial and digital revolutions could be created far sooner than previously imaginable. Today, Riverlane is well on its way to achieving that mission. Steve has worked in quantum for 20 years, is an expert advisor to the UK government. He has a PhD in mathematics and has worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Cambridge amongst other institutions.

Janet Coyle - Managing Director, London and Partners

Janet leads the business growth activity at London & Partners to generate economic growth which is sustainable, inclusive and innovation-led. Janet led the Business economic activities for London during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and was previously a Diplomat for the UK Government. Nicky Dee - Co-founder and Chief Sustainability and Innovation Officer, Carbon13

Nicky has pioneered many activities in the sustainability space to scale up impact from startups. This has included work with UNEP, Nesta, European Projects, Climate KIC, DfID, UK Gov. She has been an entrepreneur as well as worked directly with entrepreneurs and those who support them. She designed and delivered the Unilever Young Entrepreneurs Awards in partnership with CISL for several years which globally attracted thousands of entrepreneurs. She has engaged with many corporates through executive education and consultancy and developed frameworks to evaluate startup ecosystems which she has applied to many leading as well as emerging locations. Nicky is also actively exploring inclusive approaches to entrepreneurship. Nicky is a Senior Associate with the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and continues contributing to activities at the Institute for Manufacturing. Nicky has a PhD in “Technology Management of Sustainable Energy Ventures” from the University of Cambridge.

Maximilian Ge - Principal, Oxbridge Angels

Maximilian Ge is an investor at Oxbridge Angels based in Cambridge, UK. He has over 15 years of experience connecting tech and entrepreneurship groups across the Cambridge innovation ecosystem. Jenny Gove - Global Head of UX Research and Content Strategy, Google Pay and Payments

Jenny Gove leads UX Research and Content Strategy for Payments and Google Pay. Previously Jenny managed the Apps, Social, and Ads Design Research teams at Google. Prior affiliations include Sun Microsystems, Zadu, and the Open University, UK. She received her PhD from the University of Southampton in the UK.

Emil Hewage - Co-Founder and CEO, BIOS Health

Emil Hewage is the Co-Founder and CEO of BIOS. Emil was recognised as an Engineering Leader by the Royal Academy of Engineering and was named in Forbes 30 Under 30 and BIOS has been backed by YCombinator (W’17), Real Ventures, AME cloud, Fifty Years VC and the Human Augmentation Syndicate. Before founding BIOS, he was a computational neuroscience and machine learning researcher at the University of Cambridge and brought this expertise to solving the problem of reading and writing on our nervous system, using AI to decode the vast amount of information our brains send to our bodies. 

Mike Hollier - Vice President of Technology Incubation, Dolby Labs

Dr Mike Hollier is an accomplished international executive with a strong track-record in corporate-venturing, start-up, founder-sales, multiple operational roles, and board-service. His experience embraces start-up, large company dynamics, and organizational scaling. He is driven and entrepreneurial and has led the creation of transformational new products and services supported by extensive new intellectual property. 

Mike’s passion is matching significant industry challenges with bleeding-edge innovation. Commercial success has resulted from building world class teams across multiple countries, disciplines, and business models.

Through the 1990’s Mike worked at BT Labs (UK) creating a new generation of perception-based performance management tools for communications over IP-networks. From 2000 he led Psytechnics, an international VC backed startup, through funding, pivots, and exit. From 2010 to 2019 he was based in Silicon Valley (USA) working for Dolby Labs on adjacent opportunities. He has also held advisory roles for AI and SDN start-ups in Silicon Valley. Mike currently leads Technology Incubation for Dolby.

Simon Hombersley - CEO, Xampla

Simon Hombersley is CEO of Xampla, which develops natural polymers as a replacement for single-use plastics. An experienced sustainable technology entrepreneur, he is the former CEO of Oxford Flow and co-founder of Lontra, an award-winning engineering business developing an energy efficient compressor.

Caroline Hyde - Commercialisation Associate, Cambridge Enterprise

Caroline helps other universities and governments to learn from Cambridge Enterprise’s experience and expertise to develop and enhance their own commercialisation activities. By helping to improve technology transfer and commercialisation skills in other countries, we seek to enable other universities to deliver effective research impact and solutions to world issues. In this role, Caroline oversees the International Open Programme as well as working with a number of talented and experienced Associates to deliver bespoke programmes and projects internationally. Caroline held a previous role as CEO for Allia Future Business Centres Ltd where she established an initial innovation and incubation centre for social ventures and ‘tech for good’ companies and built out a network of four centres operating across Cambridge, London and Peterborough. Caroline has spent over 20 years working with entrepreneurship and innovation in and around Cambridge and is well networked in the Cambridge ecosystem. She brings this, as well as previous experience working in a research, development and commercialisation department of a UK University, to ensure that international partners benefit from the richest experience of engagement.
