Kieran has held various senior technical and executive roles over the past 30 years which included R&D Chief Technical Officer for Orange / France Telecom R&D and Head of Payload Systems Engineering, Airbus Space & Defence. He is currently Director of Ubiquitous Connectivity in the Satellite Applications Catapult and General Manager of the Westcott Site where they host their 5G testbed. Kieran leads on two major 5G projects, firstly a project funded by SEMLEP for Milton Keynes Smart City 5G deployment and a DCMS funded project for Dorset Council providing rural connectivity using satellite and terrestrial connectivity.
Lucy Baker

Ben Brabyn
Ben Brabyn, former Head of Level39, launched his first digital business in 2001. The world’s first crowdfunding business, Bmycharity combined payments, social networking and data analytics, enabling 800,000 donors to deliver more than £50 million to UK charities. The business was sold to Help for Heroes, the leading charity for British service men and women.
Shortly afterwards, Ben survived a brain tumour while launching his next digital business, an e-commerce site, and also advised various energy, healthcare and social media businesses on strategy, finance and business development. After this, Ben worked for the UK government as of COO of UK Trade and Investment’s Venture Capital Unit, leading a team of VC and sector specialists. The unit established relationships between global investors and a wide range of UK entrepreneurial businesses.
Ben started his career with five years in the British Armed Forces as a Royal Marine Commando. After leaving the Royal Marines as Captain, Ben joined JP Morgan as an analyst working in New York, London and the Middle East.
Ben is an ambassador for the Royal Navy and Heropreneurs, and joined Level39 as Head in February 2016, supporting 200 high-growth technology companies who are transforming the security, productivity and reach of global financial services and other sectors. Paul Ceely

Paul Ceely has over 20 years' experience network strategy and IP networking, and is been responsible for developing, driving and communicating the medium to long-term network strategy for BT. He has shaped the mobile network strategy for EE since its formation in 2010 from the merger of T-Mobile UK and Orange UK, continuing this through the merger with BT in 2016, being instrumental in the strategy EEs 4G launch in 2012, the Emergency Services Network and the development of BT’s 5G Strategy. Having studied Physics at Cambridge University, he started his career as a graduate working on IP networking and security in BT, before leaving for a startup, eventually ending up at T-Mobile and developing the IP strategy for the DT 4G programme.
Dr Afzal Chaudhry is a Consultant Nephrologist and the Director of Digital and the Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO) at Cambridge University Hospitals Foundation NHS Trust (CUH).
From an education perspective he is an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Medicine at the University of Cambridge and has completed a MA in Medical Education, being admitted as both FHEA and FAcadMEd.
On an informatics front Dr Chaudhry leads the CUH eHospital programme, delivering a hospital-wide HIMSS Stage 6 electronic patient record, and the Informatics component of the Population and Quantitative Science theme in the Cambridge NIHR Biomedical Research Centre. He is also an Associate Site Director for the Cambridge Health Data Research UK site.
In 2017 Dr Chaudhry was recognised as the UK ‘CCIO of the Year’; in 2018 he received a Special Recognition Award in the UK Government sponsored Public Sector Paperless Transformation Awards; and in 2019 he was recognised as both ‘CDO of the Year’ and ‘Digital Ambassador of the Year’ at the national Digital Technology Leaders Awards.
Nationally Dr Chaudhry chairs (i) the UK Renal Data Collaboration harmonising data flows from all UK renal units, and (ii) the Renal Association Clinical Data Standards Group providing oversight for the UK Renal SNOMED CT subset. He is also: (i) Vice-Chair of the PRSB (Professional Record Standards Body), (ii) a member of the steering group for the national NHS Digital Academy, (iii) a member of the UK HIMSS Advisory Council, and (iv) a member of the KLAS International Advisory Board.

Gerry Collins

Gerry is Director of Product Management in the Networks Division of Intelsat. In this role Gerry drives Intelsat's strategy to build new and enhanced connectivity services by combining the power of Intelsat's High Throughput Satellite (HTS) fleet with the values of terrestrial communications networks. In particular Gerry has a focus on how satellite can augment the value proposition of 5G networks and services.
Gerry's career so far has spanned both the satellite and cellular industries and he was most recently Director of Business Development at iDirect and Head of Remote Solutions at Altobridge (the former acquired the latter in 2014). Prior to this Gerry held senior positions in Nortel's cellular infrastructure business in Europe over a period of 12 years and worked in the Engineering divisions of cellular operators in France, the UK and Hong Kong.
Gerry holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from University College Dublin and a Masters in Business Administration from the Cranfield School of Management in the UK.
Jennifer Didoni

Jennifer manages Vodafone Business’ global portfolio of cloud offerings across small to medium sized businesses, public sector, national and multi-national corporates. This portfolio covers traditional IT and hosting solutions, SaaS solutions, public cloud partnerships, managed and professional services for cloud, co-creation and low latency applications and Vodafone’s market leading Multi-Access Edge portfolio.
Jennifer joined Vodafone in 2009 as the Business Manager for Vodafone’s Global Chief Technology Officer, and she has since held several roles for Vodafone Business in product and portfolio management. In addition to running Vodafone Global Enterprise’s product portfolio, she has also led the IoT Product Management portfolio, launching innovative solutions such as Internet in the Car and Narrowband IoT.
Prior to joining Vodafone, Jennifer held roles at IBM, Vail Resorts, Context:Travel and taught at The Emma Williard School and The American Overseas School of Rome.

Alistair Elliott

Alistair is an accomplished telecoms professional with over 20 years of experience in the industry, having worked with a wide range of telecoms businesses from multi-national network operators to innovative disruptors. With deep technical and commercial knowledge, Alistair heads up Pod Group’s solutions business where he is the principal strategist and architect for Pod Group’s technical services. Alistair works with Pod Group’s technical partners to customize and deliver new customer services such as eUICC subscription management, private networking and security monitoring services. Alistair is also responsible for Pod's Global network architecture, deploying new network services and managing integration with key MNO partners.
Alistair has a keen interest in global climate issues, and in building the IoT to tackle the major world crises we face. He regularly participates in industry forums and events and has represented Pod on panel discussions, roundtables, webinars and in the media.
Simon joined Real Wireless in January 2016 as Chief Technology Officer, taking overall technical and innovation strategy responsibility across the company. He is a member of the UK5G AB, co-chair of the International WG, and member of the Climate WG. His long-standing association with the UK innovation eco-system through roles such as Director of mVCE and the Innovate-UK ICT-KTN brings a wealth of practical knowledge on open innovation to accelerate product and services delivery. Simon spent his formative years in telecoms infrastructure systems and product development. In NEC Corporation he played a key role in the formation of Joint Ventures for development of 3G and 4G products and established a core team that developed the first-generation of technology for 4G systems culminating in a Steering Board position in the LTE SAE Trials Initiative (LSTI). In recent times he has directed projects on future cities, the application 5G and IoT in industry verticals with an event horizon towards 2030. His long participation in Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI) and then directing Real Wireless engagement in H2020 and the 2016 NIC study on Future Comms infrastructure brings great foresight on a range of architectural evolutions underway in 5G architectures, in particular for Open RAN and Diversification. He is a CW Small Cell SIG Champion, and in February 2022 the Small Cell Forum (SCF) appointed Simon as their Chief Strategy Officer, drawing on 25 years direct industry experience and work as an advisor to governments, regulators and big business.
Caroline has been engaged in technology analysis, research and consulting for 30 years and since 2002, has been focused entirely on mobile and wireless. As co-founder and research director of Rethink Technology Research, Caroline has developed a significant research base and forecast methodology, based around deep contacts with mobile and converged operators round the world. This addresses critical issues and trends in mobile and wireless infrastructure, and particularly operator deployment intentions for 4G, 5G, small cells, Cloud-RAN and other technologies. She is also a senior contributor to Analysys Mason’s Next Generation Wireless research programme. She has led research and consulting projects with a wide range of clients, including mobile infrastructure vendors, large and start-up operators, regulators, trade bodies, government agencies and financial institutions. Her advice and forecasts have helped inform strategic decisions at a wide range of vendors, operators, start-ups and finance houses. Prior to setting up Rethink, Caroline held various executive positions at VNU Business Publishing BV, then Europe’s largest producer of technology related B2B reports and publications. She was the European content and research director, and was a member of the leadership team for VNU’s online business. She holds an MA from the University of Oxford.
Raj has over 20 years of experience in short range and wireless communications technology R&D, business development and marketing. Raj was part of initial IEEE 802.11 team to define first WLAN standard in 1996 – a technology which has now shipped over 5bn units. Raj also helped pioneer the first 3G data transmissions working with Motorola and others to demonstrate one of the first video calls at the 3GSM show in 1998 – many years before 3G licences were awarded. He has also been awarded a number of patents including short range wireless technologies. Raj was a founder member of startup UbiNetics (1999), which successfully exited in 2005 for over $120m USD. As part of that deal, Raj joined CSR and ultimately took the role of VP Marketing where he was part of the team that acquired SiRF Technologies for $136m (2009) to add GPS technology to CSR portfolio. More recently in 2012, he helped sell CSR’s handset business to Samsung in a deal worth $310m for 310 staff to form the SCSC division. As part of that deal, Raj took up the role of VP Marketing responsible for defining future wireless products. In 2014, Raj was promoted to head up the SCSC division leading the silicon and software development for Samsung’s connectivity solutions.

Susan Hewitt

Susan Hewitt is the CTO of Ryff Europe. She had a long career in semiconductors, graphics and video processing, at such notable companies as ARM, Broadcom, AMD, ATI and Texas Instruments. Susan chaired ARM’s Systems and Software Business Unit responsible for the development of the hardware and software for Enterprise, Mobile and IoT systems. She was the Group Senior Program Manager for AMD’s Southern Islands / Radeon 7000 series of GPUs and led the international team to their successful launch. She was also the Senior Manager for Programs at Broadcom (formerly ATI) Digital TV projects where she was the program manager for Xilleon programs that were adopted by Sony, Samsung and LG.
Susan lives in Cambridge UK with her family. She is an ex-competitive figure skater and an avid Doctor Who, fan running one of the larger websites on the long-running science-fiction program.
Chris is the Programme Director for Transport. The Transport workstream is focussed on 3 key objectives. Firstly, to explore operational efficiencies on road and rail to improve service, reduce costs and improve environmental impact. Secondly, to provide better connection between transport services, support transport expansion and encourage use of public transport. Finally, to improve the travel experience. The key outcome of these objectives is to drive the development of new 5G enabled products and services.
Chris has worked in the automotive industry for over 30 years in product development and research having worked for Ford, Ricardo Consulting Engineers and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR). His most recent time in JLR saw him heading autonomous and connected car research.
Yosuke Kurihara

Yo was born and raised in Chigasaki, Japan with the beautiful Pacific Ocean and studied at State University of New York at Buffalo majoring in marketing and branding with a hell of a lot of snow and Niagara Falls nearby. Started his career as a producer at Dentsu, a creative and marketing agency group in Japan. Joined Uhuru in 2015 as a conceptor and is currently based in London leading its overseas HQ Uhuru United Ltd. while also directing data and IoT projects and innovations for the governments, local administrations, and private firms in UK and Japan. Major modes of locomotion are walking, running, and skateboarding.
Alan McClelland

With a PhD in Materials Technology, Alan has held production, R&D and commercial roles in the polymer manufacturing sector. More recently Alan has worked in General Management and Business Development roles with tier 1 suppliers to UK automotive OEMs. Alan is now Head of Strategy for the Electronics Business Unit of CPI and is focusing on commercialisation challenges facing companies seeking to connect products and exploit the opportunities offered by the Internet of Things.
Koen has worked in the mobile industry for decades; starting with major vendors such as Ericsson and Nortel and consecutively for many Dutch and international players; the latter of which is Cellnex in its private wireless provider role and he wrote multiple of their white papers. Recently, he worked with port of Rotterdam and Amsterdam Airport for private spectrum and – solutions in the mainports. In 2021 he was one of the founders of EUWENA, a pan EU association for all verticals and all countries, aiming at accelerating the market. In that capacity he holds presentations at international seminars and for the EU/RSPG.
Tim Moore

Dr Tim Moore is VP Smart Devices at Coty Inc, the third largest beauty company in the world, where he is responsible for innovation and early stage development of devices and systems for beauty, including Internet of Things (IoT). Tim joined Coty through their acquisition of ghd. As the CTO of ghd he lead and built ghd’s world-class laboratory facilities in Cambridge where innovative high performance products are developed based upon a fundamental understanding of the physics of hair. Prior to joining ghd, Dr Moore was CEO of Sagentia SGAI Ltd, a technology consultancy based in Hong Kong and Cambridge focusing on the development of breakthrough consumer products. Dr Moore obtained his PhD in Microelectronics at Cambridge University.
Neeta Mundra

John is co-CEO of 8 West Consulting, a business consulting and software development company based in Cork, Ireland. Its focus includes providing business and technology solutions to global clients in the health care and retail space along with others who require high quality, scalable and maintainable software in fields ranging from publishing to community safety. Additionally, 8 West owns the SafeTrx brand which encompasses a range of Mobile Applications, Web and IOT oriented technologies that among other services, provide exact real time location data of persons and assets to relevant parties.
8 West has a staff over two hundred and forty highly qualified professionals who share a passion for technology and business. John’s stewardship of 8 West has seen it grow from a small IT support organisation for its original parent company to its current scale.
8 West is the developer of SafeTrx, the world’s leading tracking and alerting solution for non-GMDSS vessels. The solution, often referred to as mobile-AIS by customers, provides Search and Rescue (SAR) authorities with up to date situational awareness data, including tracking and distress alerting data, in a very easy to use monitoring console. Tried and tested in the real world of marine rescue, SafeTrx is used by SAR authorities in the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Norway, Australia, South Africa, Finland, the UK, Ireland and Dubai, Sweden, and Denmark. SafeTrx has supported rescue missions from the Arctic Circle to the Indian Ocean, and is truly “battle hardened”, with a constant evolution of capabilities informed by the highest levels of professional use.
In 2019, John introduced SafeTrx to Sony Mobile Communications AB, and 8 West has partnered with Sony to combine the proven and reliable SafeTrx functionality with cutting edge Sony hardware, in the form of a wrist wearable device, that has multiple safety, health and security applications in both B2C and B2B contexts. This unique product will be released to market in q3 2020.
In 2020 John drove the effort to rapidly design, build, and deploy to trials, the CREW (Covid Remote Early Warning) system, incorporating wearable sensors, smart devices, and an IOT platform, which provides real time remote wearer health and BIO statistics and alerts, to system administrators in healthcare and a wide range of other settings. This system has potential applications beyond Covid and may be used for real time monitoring and alerting in a numerous variety of scenarios.
Abhi Naha

Abhi was the CCO of CW Cambridge Wireless and CEO of the Product as a Service Consortium. At CW, Abhi initiated and lead on the 5G private network testbed in Cambridge, corporate digital innovation accelerators and high value collaborations.
Abhi was the CEO and Founder of Zone V a Cambridge start up backed by Qualcomm and ARM focused on empowering people with aging eyes and visually impairment through inclusively designed smartphone software. He held senior roles at Powermat, San Jose based Synaptics and advisory roles for Goldman Sachs and Silver Lake in the area of mobile user interface technologies. Abhi is a senior advisor to an autonomous vehicle mobility scale up Conigital, Industry Partner (Digital Infrastructure) for Arjun Infrastructure Partners with 5 Billion Euros of assets under management and an Ambassador for the United Nations Global Sustainability Index Institute. Abhi studied Electronics and Electrical Engineering, has an MBA in International Marketing and authored a book on Mobile Handset Design when approached by Cambridge University Press. More recently Abhi has created an initiative to help train widows in developing countries learn python programming, gain financial empowerment and become future leaders.

Marc Overton

Marc Overton is responsible for Solutions and Services at Sierra Wireless focused on developing leading device to cloud solutions that reduce complexity, turn data into intelligence and get connected products and services to market faster. Marc joined Sierra Wireless in 2017 from Cisco Jasper, where he was Managing Director, Global Innovation and Sales for the Cisco IoT business. Prior to this role, he was Head of Global Operator Strategy & Business Development at Cisco Jasper. Before joining Cisco Jasper, Marc was SVP and Co-GM, EMEA for First Data, where he launched connected payment solutions, and VP of Wholesale and IoT at EE, where he built and ran the MVNO business. Earlier in his career, Marc held senior positions at Orange, as well as Hutchison 3G UK, Europe’s first 3G mobile operator.
Joey Pan is Huawei’s Director of Industry and Public Affairs. In this role he is responsible for developing partnerships with academic, technical and business organisations in the UK to promote joint innovation and sustainable growth in the ICT sector. Joey is also a Board Director of techUK.
Over the past 15 years, Joey has held different positions within Huawei, both in China, Africa and Europe. Prior to this he was Vice President of Global Government Affairs in charge of relationships with key international organizations.
Colin completed BSc and PhD studies in wireless communications at the University of Surrey, Guildford from 1977-85. During this time he was became involved in its nascent microsatellite organisation SSTL, building flight modules for the first two satellites and being its first groundstation manager. The second satellite was launched in 1983 was heard working as recently as 2012. His PhD studies in Ultra Linear Power Amplifiers were sponsored by Philips and resulted in a patent.
He joined PA Technology in 1985 working on the design of various communications projects such as CT2 digital cordless telephone, PMR handsets (viz police walkie-talkies), a microwave oven and a novel underwater communications system for training Olympic swimmers.
In 1989 Colin co-founded and is Chairman of Plextek, one of the largest independent electronics design consultancies in Europe. This has subsequently been demerged to create four additional operating companies: Telensa street light metering and management; PRFI – boutique microwave chip designers; Blighter surveillance Systems – electronic scanning radar as used by Gatwick for drone detection; and Redtail Telematics – Telematics Service Provider for Stolen Vehicle Recovery to TRACKER Network and LoJack/CalAmp, and provision of insuretech to Admiral, ingenie, Direct Line, Acorn and to automotive OEMs such as JLR and others.
Colin was a Non-Executive Director of Amino Technologies from 2002 until 2016, assisting its growth from a small PE company through flotation to its present successful position on AIM.
Colin is an amateur concert pianist and flies gliders in national level competitions.
Stephen has spent much of his career working with wireless technologies. He started out using radio telescopes for astronomical research, before gaining his first commercial experience with Ionica, the Cambridge company that built the world’s first fixed wireless network.
He then moved to Ofcom, the UK regulator for digital communications. He was an executive member of Ofcom’s Board, served as Ofcom’s Chief Technology Officer, and as Acting Chief Executive. He led the teams responsible for setting strategy for digital communications in the UK, and for representing the UK internationally.
Stephen now holds a portfolio of non-executive and advisory roles in the technology sector. A common theme across his portfolio is an interest in how innovators, entrepreneurs, and government can work together to generate economic growth and social value.
Dan Warren is Director, Advanced Network Research at Samsung Research UK. He leads a team of researchers working on cutting-edge radio and system-level technology innovation, who are contributing heavily to EC-funded 5G projects and 3GPP standardisation of 5G. Dan performs a strategic role identifying and progressing technological innovation and market opportunities that can be the basis of new Samsung products, covering topics such as IoT, V2X and the application of AI. Dan is also currently Chair of the European Commission 5G-PPP Steering Board.
Prior to joining Samsung, Dan held senior roles at Capita, GSMA, Vodafone and Nortel. Dan is a widely respected authority on technical, strategic and commercial matters relating to Telecoms, Internet of Things, Voice over LTE and IMS, Roaming and Interconnect and end-to-end network architectures, regularly speaking at global events with audiences from technologists to financial investors. Dan holds a Ph. D. in Applied Mathematics from Brunel University.

Matthew is a proud Googler where he works in Google Cloud as a Startup Architect with startups across the United Kingdom and Ireland, with a particular emphasis on all things data, machine learning, and applied AI. Prior to Google, Matthew was the founder of several ML startups in the PropTech and MarTech spaces, with his most recent a FinTech startup focussing on foreign exchange prediction and intraday liquidity management. With a background in neuroscience, Matthew is particularly interested in the use of data and machine learning to help users make better and more meaningful decisions which can enrich their and others lives.
Matthew is happily married to a chef, Sarah, is the proud father to a fourteen year old son, Louis, and resides with his family in north London just a short 17 minute train journey from Google. where he remains a season ticket holder and long suffering supporter of Watford FC.
