About the group

A programme exploring the causes of mistrust online - and how to fix it!

We are struggling to trust the internet. Gone are the halcyon days of freedom and information for the common good built on the trust of the good intentions of our fellow users; instead we are increasingly concerned with:

  • Who we can trust, be it individuals or companies
  • What we can trust, especially now that everyone is a potential provider of 'information'
  • How we can trust businesses with increasingly personal data

In response to these concerns CW is organising a series of workshops which will bring together our enviable mix of technologist, innovators and entrepreneurs with social scientists and legal experts in an attempt to explore the root causes of this lack of trust. Our hope is that discussion will provide the spark for innovation.

We will be challenging ourselves: can we engineer trust?
