Application Software Manager

Summary

We are looking for a bright, motivated and skilled software engineer who has some experience of managing a small team. The role is very hands on and experience of .NET Framework and C# is important.

We need someone who enjoys being part of a team, doing whatever tasks are required to deliver high quality software products to our customers. We want a person who can communicate well with our customers, understand their requirements clearly, and translate those requirements into great software.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and motivating a team of highly skilled software engineers
  • All aspects of the full software development life cycle including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, documentation and training
  • Creation of functional designs, specifications and costings to be presented internally or to the customer for approval
  • Programming to deliver high quality software applications
  • Rigorous testing, including regression testing
  • User documentation

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience of leading and managing other engineers
  • Excellent communicator
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience of programming and systems design
  • Experience in Microsoft .NET Framework, C#
  • Good analytical and problem solving ability
  • Solid mathematical skills
  • Attention to detail and a passion for producing high quality software
  • Experience of maintaining, extending and amending existing software as well as creating new applications
  • Prepared to be flexible and open-minded about all aspects of the job

Desirable

  • Experience of DSP and implementation of DSP algorithms
  • Experience of embedded programming using C/C++
  • Flair for visual design
  • Experience in WPF, OOD, ASP.NET, Javascript, AJAX or JQuery
  • Knowledge of SQL – Postgres, MySQL
  • Experience of producing high performance graphical data visualisation applications
  • Experience of security and encryption, communication protocols and client server based systems
  • Linux programming
  • Familiarity with digital radio systems and understanding of radio propagation
