Our Business

Based in Cambridge (UK) Green Energy Options (geo) specialise in the design, manufacture and support of energy management display and information systems for domestic markets across Europe. Our focus is helping consumers understand and manage their domestic energy (and water) consumption. As such we design, manufacture and support consumer products. Established in 2006, geo is now one of the leading home energy management system companies in the world having sold over 5 million systems.  We are listed in the Sunday Times Tech Track 100 fastest growing UK tech companies for a third year running and in 2017 we won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation.  With major contracts to supply the UK smart metering programme, multiple connected home contracts and a growing distribution channel, the company is continuing to experience rapid growth. 

The Position

An exciting new role in which you as geo’s Chief Data Scientist, will grow and shape the Data Science function.  Using your expertise in Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence you will generate significant additional value from an expanding range of data sources and data types including large volumes of smart meter and sensor data, with the value created being delivered to geo’s customers via the products and services.

The role combines hands-on development with the management and leadership of a team of Data Scientists.  Working closely with geo’s senior management team, you will play a key role in developing and driving geo’s data science capability to be a competitive advantage.

Candidates for this role will have a proven track record in a senior role, applying Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence techniques to large and dynamic datasets, using modern tools. You will also bring clear technical leadership and vision to the role, which is most likely developed through experience in a commercial environment, delivering Data Science functionality into consumer products and services.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree (PhD preferred) in a relevant field e.g. Statistics, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Computer Science.
  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience in senior Data Science, Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence roles.
  • Strong hands-on Data Science skills, ideally in a Python environment.
  • A successful track record of technology leadership and leading high-performing teams.
  • A results-oriented, creative strategic thinker with strong interpersonal skills.
