Water Recycling is at the heart of our operations. The key services that we are responsible for are delivered by our in-house, highly-skilled workforce. We collect and treat the water that customers have used, returning it to the environment via rivers and coastal outlets. Would you like to be part of a team who responsible for the safe and sustainable operation and maintenance of our water recycling assets?

What will you be doing?

The key purpose of this role is to operate and maintain both the sewerage system and associated water recycling pumping stations.  You will help contribute to protecting public health and meeting our important target levels of service. Within this role you will respond to pollution occurrences, clear public sewers and respond to customer queries with an empathic and understanding manner.

This opportunity as Field Technician will be based in Basildon.

What do you need?

Experience within a sewerage environment is preferred, but not essential in this role. However, you should be able to manage your time efficiently, work well within a small team and deliver a fast and reliable service to all our customers. You will ideally be educated to at least GCSE standard or equivalent and hold basic IT skills.

Our sewerage network is a vital operation and therefore operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Flexibility is key as you will be expected to work on a rota of 37 hours per week over a 4 day period. Some weekend and evening work will be expected. This, combined with the need to cover standby, means the role would most likely suit someone living in or near the Basildon area and has a flexible approach to working hours.

If successful in your application, you will benefit from access to a company vehicle, so a full UK driving licence is essential (preferably with an entitlement to drive vehicles up to 7.5 tons). If you are offered the role, the status of your driving licence may be checked.
