Head of Innovation

Summary

This is a rare opportunity to join as a leading member of our Innovation Practice Team. This dynamic role involves the successful design, delivery and growth of the innovation and acceleration programmes at Digital Catapult. You will be managing up to 5 of our Innovation Partners and have responsibility for half of our 20+ strong Practice in developing and delivering projects and programmes that will drive the adoption of advanced digital technologies and the growth of technology startups in the UK. The Head of Innovation will focus specifically on our Future Networks (includes 5G, IoT & LPWAN technology) and Distributed Ledger Technology workstreams, collaborating closely with our Head of Innovation for Immersive and AI, and reporting into the Senior Head of Innovation Practice.

What You’ll Do
  • Shape, oversee and execute delivery of innovation and acceleration programmes, taking responsibility for achievement of related KPIs and generating positive impact for startups, corporates, and the UK economy
  • Inspire and guide key stakeholders internally and externally to engage with Digital Catapult to drive successfully adoption of advanced digital technologies and related ways of working
  • Lead, develop and support the people under your management (3-5 direct reports at present) to create an open and collaborative working environment while delivering exceptional activities that achieve client and company objectives
  • Contribute to and shaping desirable and feasible propositions for commercial and R&D bids
What We’re Looking For
  • A collaboratively minded, hands-on innovation expert with extensive delivery experience in relevant industries
  • An outstanding communicator able to break down complexity and adapt their messaging to suit the changing needs of our audience
  • An open minded, experienced people manager with strong leadership skills who is happy to work with a wide variety of projects and personalities and able to influence direction for cross-functional teams
  • Able to direct the organisation in developing best in class approaches to innovation activities such as sprints, workshops, innovation strategy days, acceleration and innovation programmes
  • A personality that thrives on opportunity and ambiguity, clearing the path and setting the vision from both a strategic and operational perspective
  • A positive, curious thinker with an equal awareness of commercial context and wider impact
