We are looking for an Innovation Partner (Manufacturing) to join the Innovation Practice in delivering advanced digital technology innovation projects to our clients and partners in the Manufacturing Industry. The Innovation Partner will lead innovation projects and activities, manage key relationships and seek opportunities to deepen our impact, grow our reputation and expand our reach. We are looking for an individual with a strong understanding of the wider Manufacturing Industry and proven experience of business analysis and business case development, preferably within an innovation context. The diversity of Digital Catapult’s work across industries, technologies, and organisations is reflected in the role, as it presents the opportunity to work across a variety of projects and programmes with corporates, startups, and public sector stakeholders. The Innovation Partner’s core focus is to ensure our innovation activities capture and address the needs of our customers and the ambitions of Digital Catapult, and ultimately deliver impact to the UK market in accelerating the adoption of advanced digital technologies in Manufacturing. This role requires experience in the Manufacturing industry, a strong business analysis toolkit, a strong understanding of collaborative innovation, and excellent analytical and critical thinking skills. We are looking for an individual able to clearly shape business cases for advanced digital technology adoption, design propositions, and influence internal and external stakeholders. A connection to the communities we aim to serve will be essential to ensure we design and deliver activities that are impactful for businesses, industries and the UK.

What You’ll Do
  • Researching and capturing evolving customer requirements and business cases for innovation to drive and demonstrate business impact
  • Delivering impactful activities — from workshops and interviews to larger discovery, experimentation and acceleration projects — to meet or exceed customer/partner objectives and defined company KPIs
  • Working with internal stakeholders to build a best practice toolkit for Business Analysis for Advanced Digital Technologies
  • Building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to grow and develop accounts
  • Identifying and developing new opportunities in collaboration with appropriate business leads
  • Representing Digital Catapult at events, workshops and meetings
  • Effectively managing budgets, risk and resources on innovation activities
  • Leading 1-2 reports and ensuring they are confident in performing their role and have clear development goals
  • Educating clients, co-workers and broader stakeholders on the value of technology innovation and the work of Innovation Practice/Digital Catapult
  • Reporting to internal and external programme management functions
What We’re Looking For
  • BA or Consulting background with demonstrable experience in building business cases and delivering business value for the Manufacturing industry
  • Strong in facilitation and leading meetings, advancing agendas and leading project teams on workshops and events
  • Able to design and deliver initiatives, research new topic areas and consult other organisations on the best way to proceed in delivering their desired outcome, applying a variety of innovation methods as appropriate
  • Experience of designing and delivering innovation, acceleration and/or digital transformation initiatives to drive business impact
  • Basic project management skills including budgetary control, resource management, company communications and risk capture and mitigation
  • A clear understanding of the challenges involved in growing early-stage ideas into products or services, either from a startup or enterprise perspective
