About the Team

The IT Business Engagement Team is a newly formed team integral to the success of GSMA’s IT capability. We are the glue between IT and wider GSMA organisation, managing demand, developing the IT roadmap for the business, and managing and delivering innovative IT solutions at our world class MWC and M360 Series of events.

Senior IT Programme Manager (Events)

About the Role

The IT Delivery Manager role is a key part of the IT team focused on planning, delivery and reporting of the IT elements of MWC events. Positioned within the Business Engagement team, you will primarily ensure the successful delivery of the IT elements of MWC events in conjunction with our partners and internal stakeholders.

You will focus on managing the delivery of core elements to the event, business initiatives and service enhancements with focus on exhibitor and attendee experience, including Business Case and Requirements Analysis of existing service mix as well as future initiatives. Forging close relationships with the event project team you will ensure we proactively drive the IT best practices to stakeholders and provide guidance for technical requirements to support core event activities. 

You will be the key interface between the GSMA and our delivery partners, and represent the needs of the exhibitor and attendee alongside the GSMA initiatives. Involvement, support and participation in onsite event delivery is also a critical requirement of this role.

Further, you’ll work closely with internal GSMA teams; the Programme office and GSMA industry project teams to ensure we aid and deliver showcase elements.

Project management skills supported by an understating of IT network topologies, wireless networks & emerging technologies is a must.

About You

  • Proven experience in delivering highly technical IT event solutions
  • Experience with liaising with clients to identify, define and manage event IT requirements, scope and objectives both on-site and pre-event.
  • Superior communication and written presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees, customers, vendors across international boundaries
  • Ability to network and gain industry knowledge, including an ‘over the horizon’ view
  • Experience working with internal teams; defining and delivering IT requirements to support the IT events business.
  • Experience of maintaining comprehensive project documentation, schedules, plans and reports.
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workloads, work on own initiative and to tight deadlines.
  • Experience in setting and working to timelines and milestones.
  • Experience of tracking costs, and assistance with managing and maintenance of budgets to deliver project.
  • Management and coordination experience between local and overseas vendors and other technical contractors
  • Creative problem solver with a practical, solution focused approach.
  • Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills. Must be a team player.
  • Experience in a Mobile Telecommunications Industry is an advantage.
