Project Director / Senior Project Manager

Summary

Digital Catapult is looking for a Project Director/SPM to own delivery of a Virtual Production (VP) capital build which will consist of procuring and delivering enhancements to two existing VP installations and also providing interlinked private 5G standalone (5G-SA) networks for them. This will enable co-creation and remote testing of applications and experiences for Film and TV productions. The two facilities are co-located with our Partners in Surrey and the North East of England. This is a great role for someone with experience providing integrated direction, management, and leadership in large infrastructure projects of a relevant technical nature.

The ideal candidate is proactive, positive, organised and able to work with a complex set of changing priorities.  This is a 6 month FTC or contract role until March '22. Closing date for applications: 19th September 2021. Target start date: ASAP.

What You’ll Do

  • Planning and owning the project roadmap and plan
  • Selecting and managing third party contracts and implementation partners following appropriate legal, financial and procurement directives
  • Leading the implementation team
  • Delivering to agreed budgets and timelines
  • Monitoring progress, overseeing finance and ensuring project quality
  • Meeting with stakeholders (inc. clients and board members) to report on project progress
  • Liaising with clients and building strong working relationships
  • Managing risks and issues to avoid delays or reputational damage
  • Overseeing the logistical requirements of the project
  • Delegating work as needed
  • Regularly reviewing timings, budget, labour, risk and project plans to ensure work stays on track
  • Keeping and supplying financial records
  • Monitoring performance against agreed criteria
  • Ensuring contractual obligations are fulfilled
  • Ensuring the delivery of high-quality work within contract timescales
  • Dealing with contract disputes and mitigating the impact of any issues

What We’re Looking For

  • Delivery of similar sized projects (£5m) using relevant technologies on time and within budget
  • Broad technical experience with immersive technologies and especially Virtual Production (hardware, software and pipeline). Ideally you would also have experience running projects that included implementing 5G technologies
  • Familiarity with governmental procurement and purchasing processes and frameworks including OJEU
  • Ability to work with time-limited deliveries
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • A strong team player with a very collaborative approach
  • Proactive and self-confident, adaptable and able to cope with ambiguity, changing and evolving priorities
  • Experience influencing across organisations and managing groups of senior stakeholders for complex projects
