We are looking for a bright, enthusiastic and self-motivated Engineer to work on Wi-Fi radio and low level MAC layer issues in our Radio Firmware team. You will help us provide technical support for a wide range of our connectivity chips.
We are looking for a bright, enthusiastic and self-motivated Engineer to work on Wi-Fi radio and low level MAC layer issues in our Radio Firmware team. You will help us provide technical support for a wide range of our connectivity chips.
Your role will involve doing time critical front line customer support on our chipsets, working with your colleagues to reproduce, identify and solve issues raised by various teams located world-wide in multiple defect management systems.
You will gain an understanding of the basic architecture, design and implementation of radio firmware features, learn how to use the logging facilities and how to analyse sniffer logs and core dumps to interpret radio behaviour. There will be opportunities to improve C knowledge and modify radio aspects of production firmware as part of the Radio Firmware development team.
Responsibilities

Own and drive resolution of issues raised by phone manufacturers

Work with Radio Firmware and other development teams within SCSC to find solutions

Liaise with test teams in UK, India and S. Korea to test firmware modifications
Required Skills
- Degree (or equivalent qualification) in software/maths/electronics/science
- Good understanding of ‘C’ and Python
- Effective team player
- Good communicator
- Good problem solving ability
Desired Skills
- Some knowledge of software development
- Exposure to revision control systems (Git preferred)
- Knowledge of wireless communication protocols
- Awareness of wireless radio technologies
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix environment
- A keen interest in wireless technology and the operation of radio frequency hardware
