Responsible AI Manager

Summary

The Responsible AI Manager works closely with technology team members and stakeholders across our organisation to initiate and develop new ethics processes and projects including working with our corporate partners, developing and disseminating research and resources, and supporting startups. You will do this through our open innovation programmes, by building pilots, test environments and trials to accelerate the deployment of new technologies and business models.

This is an opportunity to use your skills and experience in AI+ML technologies, and ability to develop a technical awareness of other key technologies like IoT, Immersive and Distributed Systems, in combination with a focus on ethical development of applications and processes.  You will make a difference to the UK economy by helping companies accelerate and lead on ethical aspects in cutting-edge innovation projects with partners across the commercial and academic world.

What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to Digital Catapult’s ethical strategy and direction in cooperation with key team members
  • Contribute to the ongoing ethical requirements to enable execution of Digital Catapult’s strategy
  • Participation in the delivery of collaborative R&D funding proposals/projects Initiation, preparation and subsequent delivery
  • Work across the organisation to ensure shared knowledge of the programme’s ethical direction
  • Participate in open innovation activities as an expert in ethical frameworks and processes and be a mentor for startups and corporates
  • Build networks across the UK’s academic, startup and industry communities for the benefit of ethical awareness and applied ethics
  • Maintain and grow our current relationships with key stakeholders like the Ethics Committee and partner organisations in the field of technology ethics

What We’re Looking For

  • Educated to degree-level with a preference for a social science or humanities background, a postgraduate degree would be advantageous
  • Outstanding presenter and communicator to a wider range of business, technical and political audiences with ability to present complex issues in a simple way
  • Proactive and self-confident, adaptable and able to cope with ambiguity, changing and evolving priorities whilst being able to identify new opportunities
  • Excellent analytical and reasoning skills, very collaborative working style
  • Desire and ability to share ideas
  • Excellent problem solving and multitasking skills, with a creative and flexible attitude
  • Technical awareness of and/or competency in ML/AI technologies would be advantageous but not required
