What the hiring manager says

The Senior Insights Manager will have a great opportunity to work on an array of topics related to the Mobile Money Programme’s new strategy, which is centred on enabling the mobile money sector's transition to ‘payments as a platform’ model. This transition should unlock a proliferation of innovative use cases enabling an increase in the number of financially included people as well as better products and services for the poor and marginalized populations. The Senior Insights Manager will create insights/research pieces that are informative, strategic and can prod the industry into action. Nika Naghavi, Data & Insights Director for Mobile Money Programme

About the Role

The Senior Insights Manager will play an integral role in delivering a bold vision for how mobile money providers can evolve toward a ‘payments as a platform’ model. This is achieved through delivering insights/research on platform-based business models (papers, blogs, toolkits, presentation slides, etc.) and articulating what this means for the industry and for the most underserved communities.

The Senior Insights Manager will also be responsible for overseeing and producing insights that informs the activities of the Mobile Money Research and Innovation Lab, a GSMA facility that explores, tests, and pilots new technology solutions for the mobile industry. This requires close collaboration with the technical and commercial team of the Inclusive Fintech Pillar of the Mobile Money Programme.

In addition, you will need to closely engage with the rest of the Insights staff within the Mobile for Development department and identify opportunities of collaboration or alignment where possible. You will also have the opportunity to closely engage with the mobile money providers through a series of strategic dialogues.

Finally, you will support the Data & Insights Director in evolving the strategic direction of the Mobile Money insights portfolio. In addition to management responsibilities of more junior Insights Manager and the Knowledge Manager, this will include contributing to the programme’s learning agenda, providing with intelligence and analysis on future trends and opportunities within the Mobile Money sector with a focus on emerging use cases, business models, disruptive innovation, best practices and social impact opportunities.
