Your role will be as a technical contributor in our enthusiastic team, taking on exciting opportunities in design and development, radio bring up, debugging of complex low level embedded/radio issues and RF optimisation to meet customer targets.
Samsung Cambridge contributes outstanding Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity to multiple chipsets for smartphones and tablets.
Our Radio Firmware Team develops embedded software to optimise Wi-Fi radio performance. We act as a bridge between analogue and digital designers, and Wi-Fi firmware developers.
Your role will be as a technical contributor in our enthusiastic team, taking on exciting opportunities in design and development, radio bring up, debugging of complex low level embedded/radio issues and RF optimisation to meet customer targets.
You will design and develop low level radio firmware to produce efficient, effective operation of the radio when used in a real-time environment. A keen interest in wireless technology and the operation of radio frequency hardware will be useful.
Responsibilities:
- Detailed technical contribution to radio firmware development tasks (requirements, design, code, bring up, unit/system test, documentation, code review and support)
- Understand and improve radio calibrations
- Contribute to the improvement of retrieving, analysing and presenting low level debug data
- Investigate real-time radio issues and suggest performance improvements
- Work with lead Engineers to ensure timely delivery of designs
- Contribute towards the continuous development of the team’s processes and deliverables
- Contribute towards improving the test system and coverage
Required Skills:
- Competent in C programming, particularly within a constrained embedded environment
- Excellent problem solving abilities; willing to pursue investigations to conclusion
- Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Software / Electronics / Science / Maths
- Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of Wi-Fi 802.11 protocols or similar protocols
- Understanding of radio systems and system integration (analogue, digital and firmware)
- Experience of implementing radio calibrations and optimisation
- Understanding of analogue/digital and RF designs
- Competent in MATLAB and/or Python, especially within a test environment
- Familiarity with wireless radio technologies and characterisation testing with radio test equipment (spectrum analyser, radio communication test set, etc.)
- Familiarity with tracking and revision control systems (e.g. JIRA and Git)
- Exposure to Verilog and analogue/digital simulations, Jenkins, Wireshark, ARM
