Summary
We are seeking an exceptional Security Engineer to join our team. Security Engineers are unique individuals prepared to relentlessly resolve security issues by gathering and analysing event data and conducting root-cause analysis. If you enjoy analysing networks, system services, operating systems and applications from a security perspective, and you are skilled at discovering security issues that appear under new threat scenarios, this position will provide you with a challenging opportunity. You will participate in the design, build, and deployment of security controls and security-focused services as well as provide consultation, architectural review, risk analysis, vulnerability testing, and security reviews of many elements of Amazon’s systems.
Amazon Web Services' Simple Storage Service (S3) provides a key-value interface to an infinitely scalable and durable storage system. We build and run the largest commercial storage system in the world. Amazon S3 stores trillions of objects and regularly serves millions of requests per second.
Responsibilities of this role include:
· Evaluate, architect, implement, and support security-focused tools and services
· Advise and consult with S3 software engineers on risk assessment, threat modelling, and vulnerability remediation
· Integrate knowledge of Cloud Security fundamentals, including cryptography and the shared responsibility model into adoption models and methods for internal customers and partners
· Leverage your strong teamwork skills as you and your teammates engage with other engineering and operations teams spanning the entire technology stack - endpoints, networks, databases, and applications
· Use your solid understanding of authentication protocols, core network and system security principles along with your up-to-date understanding of modern attack patterns and methods to drive security into tools used by Amazonians every day
· Draw heavily on your experience collecting, analysing, and summarizing data from a variety of sources to create compelling written and verbal communications
· Evangelize security within Amazon and be an advocate for customer trust
· Lead information security engineering projects

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
· Several years' experience with any combination of the following: threat modelling experience, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration and network security
· Several years' experience with security engineering, system and network security, authentication and security protocols, cryptography, or application security
· Consistent track record designing and delivering enterprise-level security solutions, both commercial and home-grown
· Knowledge of current security threats, trends, and mitigations
· Experience with hiring and mentorship of engineers
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience and detailed technical knowledge of security engineering, system and network security, authentication and security protocols, cryptography, and application security
· Strong coding skills in multiple common languages (e.g. Perl, Python, Ruby, shell scripting, PowerShell)
· Master's degree with specialization in information security
· Experience working with remote teams
· Information security professional certifications encouraged (SANS GIAC, CISSP etc.)
· AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
