Technical Marketing Engineer

Your role will be to provide our customer-facing teams with the tools that they need to communicate the features and benefits of those innovations, in a compelling, concise way

Technical Marketing Engineer – Cambridge or Bristol

Do you have an electronic or software engineering background and looking for a marketing focused technical role?

Can you bring a curious mind and a can-do attitude to our organisation?

Who are we?

UltraSoC is a pioneering developer of analytics and monitoring technology at the heart of the systems-on-chip (SoCs) that power today’s electronic products. Our embedded analytics technology allows product designers to add advanced cybersecurity, functional safety and performance-tuning features; and it helps resolve critical issues such as increasing system complexity and ever-decreasing time-to-market.

What are we looking for?

Our talented and productive hardware and software engineering groups keep up a fast pace of innovation. Your role will be to provide our customer-facing teams with the tools that they need to communicate the features and benefits of those innovations, in a compelling, concise way. You’ll be supporting the Director of Marketing and Head of Product in piloting new products through our New Product Introduction process. So you’ll need to be able to discover and understand in-depth technical information coming from the engineering team. You’ll be translating that information into sales and marketing documentation, presentation materials, videos and other assets that “tell a story” to our customers and potential customers.

This role would ideally suit someone with an engineering education and some work experience, who is now looking to make the transition into a more commercial role. We’ll need you to grasp important technicalities quickly: we’ll provide on-the-job and formal training in the sales and marketing aspects of the job, so there will be ample opportunity to develop and learn. We’re a fast growing, venture-funded start-up, so there will be plenty of scope for you to grow into the role and take on more responsibility.

What will you deliver?

·Provide end-to-end marketing support for introducing new products, from discovery to market validation to release, using our NPI (new product introduction) process

·Articulate the technical differentiators of a product and work alongside the Product Management team to continually improve our product positioning and communication

·Work with product, engineering and marketing teams to produce compelling technical documents

· Apply marketing best practices in the context of a nuanced technical audience

·Create supporting documents, product briefs, sales documents, and presentations that enable the sales team to take our message to market

·Undertake competitive analysis and research to understand customer use cases

What do we need?

· A background in electronics/semiconductors/embedded systems and a demonstrable desire to move into product marketing or product management

·Whether you think in words or pictures, you need to be a communicator. If you can write clear, compelling copy, or sketch out “the picture that tells a thousand words”, this could be the role for you

·Comfortable communicating to both internal and external stakeholders

·Ability to view technology products from the perspective of the customer’s needs

·A multi-faceted approach to problem solving – how to solve customers’ problems not solely engineering problems

·A clear passion for marketing, a strong attention to detail and tenacity to probe and challenge the technical team

· A learning orientation and willingness to make the role your own

·A degree in a STEM subject

·An intermediate level of Office suite is essential

What would be beneficial?

·Previous experience in a technical marketing or customer-facing role

·Previous experience working for a start-up/scale-up company

· Experience of producing customer-facing technical documents

·Experience of producing marketing collateral to support a sales team

·Previous use of project management tools (SaaS based)
