Test Engineering Manager

Jaltek is searching for a Test Engineering Manager who will manage the existing team providing a test engineering function for a variety of major OEMs.

The Role:

An engineering team management position, requiring an organised, methodical and fully supportive approach to electronic test coordination. The role oversees the governance, assurance, and delivery of testing across the organisation in a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environment. The Test Manager will ensure optimised levels of customer service supported by a robust improvement strategy that will focus upon strengthened team development and improved quality and test yields.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of all test areas including AOI, X-Ray, Flying Probe, Functional Test, J-Tag and Boundary Scan
  • Implementation of effective procedures to ensure programming and test development work is completed in line with production output requirements
  • To drive through changes to test processes, working practices and internal systems which will improve quality, throughput & yield
  • Reporting of first time yields through QDS at data collection points throughout the New Product Introduction process with effective action plans defined to support the elimination of early life fails at product release
  • Accurate planning and project control throughout
  • Implement practices that ensure the company delivers to customer right first time
  • To coach and train Test Engineers & Technicians in all test disciplines
  • Definition of training procedures and acceptability standards for all personnel operating test equipment
  • Ownership for creation & control of all programming associated with test equipment
  • Ensuring all test specifications are clear & concise and where possible capable of being conducted at operator level
  • Ensuring that all specifications are held & maintained through standard operating
    procedures
  • Co-ordination & development of teamwork with equivalent functional level managers to support all types of customer requirements from fast turn prototype through to volume
  • Ensuring quality principles & standards can be applied & adhered to throughout
    manufacturing
  • Act as the primary interface for customers regarding all test engineering activities.
  • Regularly review and monitor customer satisfaction and initiate improvements where possible.
  • Technical support for all Test operations ensuring delivery of products in line with
    expectations
  • Completion of build reports in real time with product introductions
  • Responsible for the development, definition and implementation of effective maintenance plans for all test equipment
  • Process Development and Specification
  • Providing estimated labour times for testing new products
  • Input on design and maintenance of the company wide ESD precautions
  • Ensuring equipment availability and robustness to meet production output requirements
  • Implementation of effective and controlled configuration & data management processes relating to test
  • Tooling specification & procurement relating to test
  • Adherence to Engineering Change & Concession processes
  • Ensuring customer returns are completed in a timely manner
  • Ensure all equipment is calibrated in line with requirements and production output

Skills and Experience:

  • HNC/HND/Degree qualified
  • Thorough knowledge of electronic components
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing environment
  • Experience of Microsoft products including Excel & Word
  • Experience of using ERP systems and databases
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrable experience of managing multiple projects
