B.C.’s Wavefront partners with Japan’s Mobile Computing Promotion Consortium
VANCOUVER, CANADA and TOKYO, JAPAN; October 27, 2009 - Wavefront, the community-based commercialization centre for B.C.'s 1,000 wireless and new media development companies, and the Mobile Computing Promotion Consortium (MCPC), the organization dedicated to the promotion and expansion of mobile computing in Japan, today announced an agreement to work together to create mutually beneficial opportunities for their members.
Wavefront and the MCPC will support each other’s services and act as a bridge between one another’s members for business matching and strategic partnering.
As the gateway to Japan, the most advanced mobile community in world, the MCPC will connect Wavefront’s community of members to this key market. Through its Start-Up Business Support Program, the MCPC has connected thousands of emerging businesses with stakeholders to benefit and advance their products. With 168 member firms, including NTT DOCOMO, KDDI Corporation, and SOFTBANK MOBILE, the MCPC partners with organizations worldwide to contribute to the evolution and expansion of the information society.
Wavefront provides end-to-end infrastructural support to mobile and wireless application developers including facilities where developers can develop and test their applications across different network operators and devices, significantly reducing their costs and development time. Through this partnership, Wavefront will connect MCPC to the Vancouver wireless community.
“The MCPC is an internationally recognized and well respected organization,” said Wavefront President James Maynard. “This partnership will be mutually beneficial to both organizations, including Wavefront members seeking access to Asian markets--areas that without this partnership might not be possible.”
“The goal of the MCPC is to shape and expand a full-scale and sound mobile computing system market,” said Masahiro Hataguchi, Secretary General of MCPC. “While our efforts have been focused primarily in Asia, this venture will provide our organization and its members access to the Vancouver community and the North American markets it is so well positioned to serve."
