Bailey Fisher is delighted to announce the appointment of Laurence Garrett as Chairman. Previously Laurence was a Partner and Head of European Technology for the Growth Capital team at 3i, in addition to running the 3i Cambridge office.

As an investor he has produced returns of 3x, working on the boards of companies like Cambridge Semiconductor, CSR plc, Select Software, Ezurio, Trigenix, UbiNetics, Taptu, Metalysis and Brann Communications.

After leaving 3i, Laurence Garrett co-founded Ethean Capital and became a member of the Cambridge University Investment Committee, endorsing investments made by University venture funds.  He also acts as an advisor to Clarity, the corporate finance advisory business focused on the media and technology sectors.

Laurence Garrett says: “My decision to get involved in a business always comes down to the people.  Do I like and trust those involved, and do I think I can help.  I have known Paul Bailey and Ann Fisher for 10 years.  They have built a great brand position in their first decade and have the ambition and desire to further that. This is a great opportunity to work with them and the team on the next stage of Bailey Fisher’s development.”

Paul Bailey says: “We see Laurence coming on board as a massive endorsement of the work Ann and I and the team have achieved over the last 10 years.  His knowledge of the high-growth technology market and operational involvement at Board level will be tremendously valuable to the growth of Bailey Fisher going forward.  We are all very excited about the opportunity to work with Laurence.”
