Handset SIG rebrands as Future Devices SIG

Published by CW (Cambridge Wireless)

As of today, Cambridge Wireless is proud to announce the launch of its Future Devices SIG, formerly known as the Handsets SIG. Due to the evolving handheld devices market, Cambridge Wireless and the SIG Champions; Abhi Naha of Zone V, Peter Whale of Qualcomm and John Roe of Accenture, concluded that the SIG should reflect this evolution.

“As we continue to see new device types enter the market, we believe it is a good time to rebrand as the Future Devices SIG,” says Peter Whale of Qualcomm and Cambridge Wireless Future Devices SIG Champion. “With the rise of the smartphone and other connected consumer devices, we are reflecting an industry which is strongly transitioning from traditional handsets to a wider variety of mobile computing devices. This creates a new set of challenges and opportunities for our members to address and create value from.”   Future Devices aims to address three core objectives:
  • To Provide Insightful Analysis: Informing members and providing analysis on the latest trends in market development, in technology innovation and in new insights into end user needs and behaviour.
  • To Cultivate Fresh Thinking: Assembling thought-leaders from diverse disciplines to broaden the canvas of ideas and perspectives, creating fresh insights critical to fuelling innovation and developing new businesses.
  • To Spark New Partnerships: Facilitating valuable new connections between individuals and organisations, and between traditionally different industry sectors, as technology continues to disrupt business models and value chains, and creates both many new challenges and many more new opportunities
