The competence network was founded by companies, research institutions, universities and federations supported by relevant ministries in Brandenburg and the Berlin Senate 15 years ago. Today, the association is the largest regional cluster of Optical Technologies in Germany and has more than 100 institutional employees. The exchange between the members is organized primarily within technological focus groups. Main advantages of the membership are easier access to knowledge, suppliers, customers and applications, new markets and public funding. Additionally, OpTecBB offers its members contact to experts, shorter “time to market”, marketing and communication support, trade fair support, education, workshops and studies, a job board, discounts and start-up/spin-off support.
