Rachel Kerr, well known to many in the CW Community as an exceptionally organised and driven Event Manager, has been promoted to Head of Events.
Rachel has been the mastermind behind 2018's two main CW conferences, CWIC 2018: Thinking Beyond the Hype, and the CW Technology and Engineering Conference: The Inevitable Automation of Next Generation Networks. She has also worked tirelessly with her SIG Champions to deliver a series of smaller forums debating key issues on topics ranging from Radio Technologies to Healthcare. In fact, two of CW's most popular events of the year were managed from inception by Rachel, including the recent, standing-room-only 5G RAN Transport Connectivity and the Bristol-based Radio Technology for 5G - Making it Work.
This is fantastic news for Rachel and truly deserved. Over the last year Rachel has been working with the CW Radio SIG and her drive and enthusiasm has helped with smooth delivery of multiple events. With Rachel becoming Head of Events, I can see CW going from strength to strength, growing the reach of events and expanding the industry and academia base.
Mark Beach, Radio Technology SIG Champion
Inspiring greater diversity and inclusion within the technology community is high on her agenda. Not only did she help found the CW Diversity and Inclusion programme, but she consistently encourages all team members to place diversity considerations at the centre of their programme delivery.
I had the pleasure of working with Rachel on both the Inclusive Innovation event in 2017, and on the annual conference CWIC earlier this year. Rachel is a consummate professional – she is a pleasure to work with and makes the art of planning and running events enjoyable and inclusive for all concerned. I wish her all the best in this key role at CW.
Faye Holland, CW Board Member
Prior to CW, Rachel had built up over 7 years’ experience running conferences and events. Previous roles include event management for a not-for-profit organisation dealing with career and skills development, working for a press monitoring company and, "back in the day", she worked at a very rock-n-roll recording & rehearsal studio.
Within the team, she is a supportive colleague and very caring friend. Her new role of Head of Events will enable her to drive efficiency improvements across the event management process, ensuring higher quality events for CW members and an enhanced event delivery experience for SIG Champions.
Rachel is the perfect fit for the position. Her dedication to the organisation incredible, and she seems to have superpowers when it comes to herding SIG champions and organising events...I can't wait to see her as the CW Head of Events
