CW (Cambridge Wireless) today announces the launch of a new Special Interest Group (SIG) that will deliver business growth by providing a forum for discussion topics such as:
- Seeking investment
- Taking product to market
- Growing rapidly and sustainably
- Starting and managing stakeholder relationships
The Business SIG will harness expertise from across the technology sector to nurture the most fundamental goal of any business: how to make the money. The champions behind this launch include Ann Fisher, Co-Founder of Bailey Fisher Executive Search, Mike Price, Chair and Owner of MPA Group and Soraya Jones, Director of Communications and Partnership of Invested Investor - and former CW CEO.
Our ambition is to become a supportive, trusted forum for those facing core business challenges, whether that’s managing a start-up, deciding investment strategies or scaling a business in the wireless industry. There is a huge amount of knowledge and expertise within the CW membership and the Business SIG will draw on this, putting on unique events that empower businesses seeking growth. - Ann Fisher, CW Business SIG Champion.
The first Business SIG event will take place on Wednesday 18 July, 1:30PM at the Bradfield Centre, Cambridge, and promises to be a thought provoking and stimulating affair. “Seeking Investment and Funding to Grow your Business: Sharing Stories Together” boasts a prestigious list of speakers that includes notable investors, such as Peter Cowley, Chairman of Cambridge Angels, and successful entrepreneurs, and Rhodri Thomas, CEO of Spectral Edge and formerly a Co-Founder of Swiftkey, a hugely successful organisation acquired by Microsoft in 2016. Attendees will discover the funding options available to start-ups and scale-ups, the best approaches to evaluate which option suits your business vision and critical learnings from those who have already trodden a similar path.
Guided by our team of almost 80 SIG Champions, CW offers an impartial venue for professionals to network with their peers and get a handle on the big issues of the day. The launch of this new Business SIG demonstrates our commitment to being the go-to source of expertise within the wireless community, supporting the developmental needs of all our members, two thirds of whom are start-ups or scale-ups. With over 50 events a year and an average satisfaction score of 94%, CW is clearly delivering on this mission. - Robert Driver, CEO, CW
The CW Business SIG anticipates organising two events per calendar year. Register your interest today on the CW website.

About Mike Price
Mike qualified as an accountant some 25 years ago. He developed his career around his passion, technology, working in financial and general management. This career was cut short in 2004 when Mike was hit by joy riders, the resulting spinal injuries making a ‘normal’ job all but impossible. Mike is Chairman and Founder of MPA Group. The company, incorporated in 2007, quickly established itself as a leader in accounting, tax and business consulting exclusively for the technology sector. The company has grown rapidly and it’s 75 employees now serve over 850 clients throughout the UK. Outside of work, Mike spends his time with an extended family of three daughters and two spaniels. Mike has a keen (some would say obsessive) interest in triathlon. The current challenge is to set a new world record for the most half Ironman events completed in 12 months.
