Three new directors welcomed to CW’s board

CW News published by CW (Cambridge Wireless)

CW (Cambridge Wireless) has today announced the latest additions to its board. From an extensive list of highly qualified candidates, Olu Orugboh, Ann Fisher and James Chapman were co-opted by current directors.

For the next three years, they will work alongside CW’s existing directors and its CEO, Simon Mead, to grow the impact that this popular technology community delivers both to its members and to the wider industry.  Olu, Ann and James bring a varied set of skills to the CW board that will strengthen its ability to achieve its goals.

Olu founded Synergy Organisational Solutions in 2005 and has assisted a range of companies from high growth scale ups to FTSE listed companies both in the UK and internationally. Her expertise in marketing, sales and customer management will augment the skills already within the board and provide new perspectives on how CW might offer additional value to its stakeholders.

Ann Co-Founded Bailey Fisher Executive Search in 1998 where she is still involved as NED, having led the growth of the business for 20 years to a successful exit in July 2018. Ann has a passion for diversity and founded Women 4 Technology in 2008. Ann was instrumental in re-launching the CW Business SIG in 2018 alongside her fellow SIG Champions. She brings unparalleled talent management experience for high growth technology companies across the UK, experience that CW will leverage for their members. Ann also brings to CW an extensive international network of both technology companies, investors and service providers.

James is an experienced engineer who helped found CW’s Artificial Intelligence and Engineering Trust SIGs and is now VP & GM of Voice, Music and Wearables at Qualcomm. He has previously held a range of C- and VP-level posts in Engineering, Product Marketing and Product Management. His technical background, combined with strong marketing and management experience, will help CW tailor its activities effectively to its membership.

James said:

“Having worked with CW for many years on a variety of SIGs I have always felt that it occupies a special place in the technical and business life of Cambridge and the wider UK tech space. It is both a pleasure and an honour to join CW's board and I look forward to supporting Simon and his team as he takes CW through its next stage of development.”

Ann said:

“I am delighted to be appointed to the CW Board; Bailey Fisher Executive Search has been a Founder Member since the tenure of Soraya Jones. I look forward to working with Simon Mead, his team and the Board to deliver on developing the organisation.”

Olu said:

“This is an exciting time of expansion and new strategic developments for CW. With my focus on digital transformation, customer experience and marketing, I personally welcome the opportunity to join the board and make a contribution to their ongoing success.”

Zahid Ghadialy, Senior Director at Parallel Wireless, and Mischa Dohler, Professor of Wireless Communications at King’s College London, have stepped down from the CW board.  Earlier in the year, Raj Gawera, VP & MD of Samsung Cambridge and Samsung Aalborg, was re-elected onto the Board by the Founder Member ballot system. He retains his position as Chairman.

Raj said:

“Since the board elections last year, CW has recruited a new CEO, launched innovation programmes with major global brands, entered into new international partnerships and maintained its exceptional programme of technical events and conferences for its members.  At this exciting time, it’s my pleasure to welcome James, Ann and Olu to the CW board. They are a talented trio whose skills will serve to increase CW’s effective delivery and growth over the next three years. My thanks go to Zahid and Mischa for their invaluable contributions – CW wouldn’t be where it is now without their generous guidance.”
