CW is running a delegation to the Xiongan New Area, located in Hebei, in October 2019. The trip includes pre-arranged business meetings with relevant companies looking to purchase or invest in UK technology and the opportunity to exhibit at the huge China International Digital Economy Expo.
Hebei region is rapidly building an entirely new city: the Xiongan New Area. As a modern, greenfield project, the masterplan for the Xiongan New Area prioritises public services, fast and efficient transport networks, low-carbon living, smart city management, modern city security and disaster prevention facilities. Its infrastructure will be based on a foundation of artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, satellite navigation and mobile internet. The Government and its partners is looking across the globe for technologies that might enable the target level of city intelligence – CIDEE is an opportunity for international companies to showcase the potential of their solutions to decision-makers. Other areas of interest include biopharmaceutical and high-end medical equipment development to improve the health and social care of those living in the region.
Furthermore, the Xiongan New Area is building a technology hub that will be comparable to that in Shenzhen. This technology hub will be a cornerstone of the Beijing – Tianjin – Hebei economic triangle and major industries that are set to thrive will include information, biotechnology, new materials, modern services and green agriculture. Universities are being established locally to foster talent and to serve high-growth tech firms.
41 countries exhibited at last year’s CIDEE. 20 large projects were contracted alongside thousands of cooperation transactions. The organisers estimated the value of investment and cooperation deals resulting from CIDEE 2018 to exceed RMB 10Bn. Local institutions signing deals at the show included Shijiazhuang City (for big data, cloud computing and internet security), Shijiazhuang City Land and Resources Bureau and The Wucheng District Government.
CW’s new partner, the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce (CECC) are hosting CIDEE and have not only extended an invitation to the conference to CW members, but have offered support in connecting participating organisations with local institutions that meet their growth criteria. Tuspark has offered to facilitate similar business connections in Beijing around the dates of the conference. In addition, CW’s delegation to China includes:
- A reserved exhibition area on the CIDEE show floor with professional construction (not including cost of materials)
- On site volunteer interpreter
- Up to 6 nights stay at a 5-star hotel, 2 rooms per company
- Local transportation from Beijing airport to venue
Participating organisations may offset costs using the European Regional Development Fund, part of the Department for International Trade’s “Get Exporting” programme, if they meet the criteria. Ask CW to connect you if this is of interest.
