Dorian Patrick, Global Head of Design, joins with 30 years’ experience in tier one building design and sustainability projects

DataQube (Global) Ltd, developers of a breakthrough pod-style, low carbon edge data centre solution, has expanded its R&D team to speed up system implementations in EMEA and the US. This latest hire is in response to growing demand for localised HPC infrastructure as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), robotics, PN5G and other next-generation technologies go mainstream.

Dorian Patrick has joined the company as Global Head of Design and will be responsible for incorporating next-generation power and cooling technologies into DataQube’s proprietary edge data centre offering. During his professional career Dorian has headed up a vast range of building design projects, from large supermarkets, hotels and shopping malls to Data Centres and Commercial Towers using the most energy-efficient solutions available whilst being aligned to safety standards and lifecycle costs.  He has also undertaken design projects for big tech firm in Europe and Asia utilising free cooling, hybrid and adiabatic systems to push the design envelope and reduce operational energy costs.

“Energy consumption in data centres is becoming unsustainable and the industry in its entirety must rethink its usage strategy to address the impact of manmade climate change, says Dorian Patrick, Global Head of Design at DataQube. “Our breakthrough edge data centre is set to play a major part corporate initiatives to lower carbon emissions.”

“Dorian’s 30 years plus experience in the Data Centre and building design industries will be invaluable to the commercialisation of DataQube and we are delighted to have him onboard,”says David J Keegan, CEO of DataQube.  “Demand for edge computing facilities to support the smart revolution is growing unprecedentedly and DataQube’s  flexible pod-style architecture, low PUE, and compelling price point makes it perfectly suited to meet this demand”

DataQube’s podular solution is setting a new standard in the industry due to its efficient use of space and optimized IT capacity. Moreover, its unique person-free layout, reduces power consumption and co2 emissions by as much as 56% because the energy transfer is primarily dedicated to powering computers. DataQube’s optimal PUE advantages, together with its compact design, lightweight structure and sterile operational environment makes deployment possible in a wide range of internal and external locations where traditional data centres are neither feasible nor financially viable due to excessive deployment times and significant upfront investment needed.
