We are partnering with ghd to bring a series of innovation & creativity programmes to the CW community
A subsidiary of one of the world's largest beauty companies, ghd are leading the way in understanding the science of hair. ghd's Research & Development labs in Cambridge are unique in combining physicists, material scientists, product designers and hair specialists to focus solely on the terminal manipulation of hair. The facility allows for scientific testing on hair and the development of new products, as well as product performance testing.
CW is connecting this R&D team with start-ups in our community.
Winter 2018/19 - ghd Innovation Hive
ghd (the global leader in hair tools and subsidiary of the third largest beauty company in the world, Coty) and CW (Cambridge Wireless) partnered to bring a new form of accelerator to the technology scene. Five companies were invited to spend three months from October 2018 working alongside ghd R&D and local technology mentors to co-design a prototype connected hair styling device. The work was part-funded and if intellectual property from the ghd Innovation Hive is taken to market, start-ups were able to negotiate commercial terms with ghd. More details here.
Summer 2019 - ghd Sustainability Challenge
The Sustainability Challenge is a light-touch way for start-ups to demonstrate their expertise to a potential investor/customer. Consisting of only three "on-site" days, participants will be asked to work together to help solve key sustainability challenges being faced by the ghd R&D team. Applications closed at the end of August 2019.
