Billions wasted: Generational divide or Technology Bias?

Technology investment decisions shape our every-day lives and fundamentally change the way we work and play. The UK’s planned trial and (guaranteed) rollout of 5G is just the latest example, where the technology needs of the nation are determined and demand is satisfied; but based on what? Are decisions taken by the executives of our brightest technology companies satisfying a genuine need, satisfying a perceived need or simply based on the bias of their own needs? Are we wasting billions of pounds a year to cater for a demand inflated by what we think we know?
