eMBB Event - Andy Sutton, BT - xHaul Technology and Economics

This talk will explore different technical solutions for xHaul, focusing in the main on fronthaul. After a brief review of RAN architecture decomposition, the talk will focus on optical fronthaul solutions based on active and passive DWDM, and Radio over Ethernet (RoE). We’ll review recent lab testing along with early practical experiences from field trials and discuss the planned roadmap of activities to enable cost-optimised rollout of fronthaul solutions in support of macro and small cell deployments. The talk will conclude with an overview of recent economic modelling which highlights key areas of focus for the future.
