The British are known for inventiveness yet the Americans make innovative ideas a reality. Innovators by necessity must be free thinkers and risk takers and to be effective must be released from the conservatism which embroils the activity of large institutions like the NHS. This talk examines a successful innovation model pioneered at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with reference to a number of innovations.
