Implementing Open RAN: Economic and Architectural Challenges

The implementation of a open, disaggregated RAN is on the agenda of a growing number of service provides as they plan for the next phase of 5G, but there are significant challenges to address before the architecture can be deployed at scale for business-critical applications. In this presentation, we will identify the key drivers for 5G Open RAN deployment, as well as the main risks, and will examine the potential role of new architecture. We will outline the technical and economic choices that operators can make to mitigate these risks and achieve the optimal outcome.
