Seamless Connectivity

WiFi plays a significant role for the mobile data industry in bearing a large proportion of indoor traffic generated by otherwise cellular connected devices. However the user experience of making a WiFi connection can be poor for a variety of reasons. In this role WiFi needs to offer the security, continuity and consistency of service normally associated with mobile. We look at the device and network technical developments needed to create a genuinely seamless service. Looking further ahead we identify some of the unsolved challenges facing devices that are capable of connecting to a diverse range of radio interfaces
