Shaping the Future of 6G: ESA's Role in Terrestrial and Non-Terrestrial Network Evolution
This session will present the views of ESA on 6G, with a focus on how ESA will contribute to making 6G a reality through initiatives to support the development and integration of the different 6G ecosystems for both Terrestrial / Non-Terrestrial Networks (TN / NTN). It will explore the views of ESA on the key technologies and use-cases for 6G; the key enablers for the seamless migration and coexistence between 5G and 6G; the role of ESA and government entities in supporting the 6G ecosystems to enable Europe to take leadership in 6G and what the current 6G programmes that ESA is supporting are.

Approaches to sharing and caring for a sustainable future
Past mobile generations have focused on technical performance. This has improved user experience in a limited set of locations while long standing issues like rural connectivity remain. Meanwhile, global priorities now align with UN Sustainable Development Goals, questioning whether the mobile industry must shift their approach for 6G development. This presentation will explore next-generation mobile infrastructure priorities across different stakeholder groups, including policy trends and industry requirements. It will highlight the need for “sustainable” mobile infrastructure and trends towards increased sharing.
