Battery technologies are moving from rapid industrial scaling to the search for step-change innovations. This talk explores the current state-of-the-art, from battery chemistries, manufacturing and deployment at scale to emerging challenges in cost, performance, safety and sustainability. We will explore the pathways toward next-generation solutions including silicon/lithium-metal anodes, solid-state and sodium-ion technologies; highlighting advances in materials, cell architectures and system integration, and discussing what it will take to translate promising breakthroughs into real-world impact.
