Patent filing data from the European Patent Office, and worldwide, reflects development and commercialisation in key battery areas, and can provide insights into emerging trends in battery technologies. What does the data tell us about the significance of patents in protecting the IP of battery technology companies, and what could the existing patent landscape mean for business strategy?
Posy is a partner in the Chemistry Group at Mathys & Squire, advising clients on a wide range of patent-related matters. In addition to her experience in drafting and prosecuting patents to grant both within the UK and Europe, she is also well-versed in the nuances of patent prosecution in numerous other jurisdictions, such as the US, China, India, Japan and South Korea. Posy works extensively with inventions in the green technology field, and has particular knowledge of the battery sector. She currently supports clients working on lithium-ion batteries (including their architecture and electrode materials), solid state electrolytes, lithium-sulfur batteries, lead acid batteries and recycling methods, and miniaturised electrochemical cells. Posy holds a master’s degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge.
