Discovering Start-Ups 2013
Now in its fourth year, Discovering Start-Ups is an exciting competition which brings together industry expertise and genuine help for companies. Technology Start-Up companies from around the UK are urged to enter now and pitch their company to an elite panel of judges and stand the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes. The free to enter competition will take place on 30th September 2013, at the prestigious London offices of the law firm Taylor Wessing, and provides a platform for you to pitch your start-up company to investors, VCs and global corporate leaders. Jointly run by Cambridge Wireless and Silicon SouthWest and supported by TechCity UK, this event is kindly sponsored by Qualcomm Ventures, Rohde & Schwarz, Google, SETsquared, Microlease/ Agilent Technologies and Taylor Wessing.

This competition is for: Technology Start-Ups Small companies looking to take their business forward Design or research groups in larger companies looking to exploit technology Students or academics in education with a brilliant idea Winners will receive a total prize fund worth £4000.

The Winners: Anvil Semiconductors: using patented technology to develop Silicon Carbide power semiconductor devices for the same price as Silicon technology. D-RisQ: automation of Formal Methods techniques to reduce the development cost of complex systems and software by up to 80% while maximising compliance. Skin Analytics: cloud-based service that uses smart phones for monitoring small changes in moles to detect melanoma skin cancers. Smart Antenna Technologies: innovative single-antenna technology for portable devices including 4G handsets. TopicLogic: web service to help busy professionals instantly find and share their files wherever they are.
