Argon Design Employee in Race Across America for Charity
On 13th July 2010 Major James Joshua Bowman was killed by a rogue Afghan soldier while he slept in the barracks in Helmand province. The Afghan Army were being mentored by Josh and his colleagues when one of their renegade soldiers attacked in the early hours. Major Bowman was a highly respected company commander with 1st Batallion The Royal Gurkha Rifles, and is deeply missed by his family, friends and colleagues. In June 2011, in memory of James, a four person team ‘Team Swift and Bold’ (www.teamswiftandbold.com) will take part in a 9 day non stop endurance race, cycling over 3,000 miles from the West coast to the East coast of America, Race Across America (RAAM) 2011. RAAM (www.raceacrossamerica.org) is considered to be one of the toughest cycling endurance races in the world.
The Swift and Bold Team will consist of James’ siblings, Louisa and David (who works for Argon Design), his childhood friend Martin, and army colleague James. The support crew of 8 will be made up of James' family and friends, including his mother and other brother Brian.
Team Swift and Bold will be raising funds for James’ preferred army charities, ABF The Soldiers Charity, The Gurkha Welfare Trust, and Care for Casualties. The work these charities do in support of our brave soldiers is vital - giving help to wounded soldiers, veterans and their families. Show them you're proud of them and donate so these charities can carry on helping those that have helped our country.
All donations are greatly appreciated - please visit http://www.teamswiftandbold.com for more information.
