Prof. Charles Curry to deliver presentation at Counter Terror Expo 2013

Prof. Charles Curry will deliver 'GPS Jamming – Quantifying the Threat' at Counter Terror Expo 2013 taking place at Olympia, London at 2pm Wednesday 24 April 2013 in the Integrated Security Workshop Theatre.

The threat from GPS Jamming to everyday critical infrastructure is well understood by an expert community who have been researching this emerging phenomenon for some time. Spear headed over the last 5 years by two TSB[1] funded collaborative research projects – GAARDIAN[2] and SENTINEL[3] led by Chronos Technology, the UK has taken a global lead in quantifying this clear and present threat.

Who or what is the culprit? Is the problem increasing? Am I at Risk? These are key questions which keep recurring. This presentation will explore these three critical uncertainties based on the current results emanating from the SENTINEL research network.

The presentation will begin with a brief overview of the aims and objectives of the SENTINEL research project. This will be followed by a more in-depth investigation of who or what jams and why? Data from some of the latest SENTINEL sensor deployments will be reviewed including a motorway near to an airport, a gantry over a typical city feeder dual carriageway and on a roof in the heart of the financial district in London.

Finally, an overview of some vulnerable applications will be undertaken to assess the extent of the threat to critical infrastructure.
