Working in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) Region on 13 June acknowledges that working with other cultures is rewarding and interesting. However, we sometimes have misunderstandings because we expect others to behave just as we do. To understand other cultures, we need to know what is beneath the surface - the norms, history, values and assumptions - all of which influence how different cultures behave and communicate.
This one-day session does just that. It will provide you with a useful template for understanding both your own and different cultures, where the gaps lie, and where there is potential for misunderstanding.
At the end of the course you will:
- Have learnt about your own cultural preferences and how these impact on others in the workplace
- Have understood what ‘drives’ and motivates your international colleagues
- Know how and when you need to modify your behaviour to create a positive impression and avoid giving unintentional offence
- Be able to use a range of techniques for effective communication using “International English”
- Have learnt practical business and social etiquette tips that will be immediately useful.
