Under the leadership of the CEO, the role is directly supported by the Head of Events for Cambridge Wireless (CW) and the Cambridge Tech Week Project Manager, who oversees operational planning, venue coordination, and day-to-day event delivery. CTW resources additionally include CW Event Managers and Business Development who lead on sponsorship and strategic partnerships. Job Description
The role of the Event Manager is to plan and deliver a range of events throughout the year, as part of CTW. A key objective of this role is engaging with supporters, partners and stakeholders, liaising between departments, and coordinating regular event planning meetings.
Responsibilities
- Manage all event administration including event plans, planning meetings, briefing notes and detailed schedules
- Source venues & liaise with event suppliers, undertake venue site visits and work with venues to ensure correct set up on the day of events
- Manage the event day from start to finish, including on site team
- Manage relationships with speakers including registering speakers, chasing and collating speaker biographies/presentations, sending joining instructions, briefings and confirmation emails
- Liaise with sponsors and speakers to ensure relevant information is obtained for conference materials
- Manage event webpages including adding events, speakers, exhibitors and processing registrations and proofing agendas and event pages on website, ensuring these are updated with relevant information both pre and post event
- Send delegate joining instructions, confirmation emails and post-event evaluation
- To support event administration, including event mailings, sending confirmations, building slide decks, creating agendas, printing badges and producing delegate lists/packs and packing for events
- Be responsible for updating event budgets and tracking expenditure against agreed targets through to reconciliation
- Meet event deadlines, prioritise tasks and juggle a large number of events
- Work with the Marketing Department to promote events and ensure maximum attendance
- Undertake any special projects on an ad hoc basis
Qualifications and experience required
The successful applicant should have a minimum and proven 3 years’ experience coordinating professional events for a range of organisations and stakeholders. Experience with event management processes, administrative procedures and customer service is a requirement.
Proactivity and willingness to liaise with technology companies and academic institutions will be required along with the right to work in the UK and availability to travel within the UK. Some events will also require work at evenings and occasionally weekends.

Desirable Skills
- Experience of working in not-for-profit/government sector
- Be a driving license holder, first-aider, health & safety qualification
- Experience using CRM/CMS systems and Event platforms
- Interest in technology and tech companies and start-ups
What’s the package?
Salary range: Competitive (salary £30 - £32,000 FTE- pro rated)
Holiday entitlement: 25 days plus Bank Holidays per annum - pro-rata
Pension: You will be auto enrolled into our pension scheme according to our enrolment policy
Employment type: Fixed term – 7 months (mid March – mid October 2026)
Flexible-hybrid model
Achieving work-life balance has never been more important and so Cambridge Wireless has adopted a flexible-hybrid model. This means that people will work flexibly with a blend of remote (home) and co-located (office) work, with teams having the flexibility to decide which location best suits the outcomes they need to deliver. Thursday is a designated ‘office’ day at our base at St John’s Innovation Centre, Cambridge.
Position
Fixed-term contract. Full-time role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday but flexible hours are available and can fit around school hours. Must be available to work throughout August to middle of September 2026 inclusive. CTW26 runs from 14 – 18 September and you’ll be expected to be on site for events every day.
