Join us for the annual TITAN Symposium ‘Realising a Network-of-Networks’, bringing together leading global experts from academia, industry, and government to explore the future of connectivity and autonomous systems. TITAN, a key component of the Federated Telecoms Hubs, brings together leading UK universities to pioneer telecommunications research that promises to transform global connectivity. 

Future connectivity is no longer defined by a single network, spectrum domain or technology roadmap. It is a system-of-systems challenge that requires terrestrial, non-terrestrial, optical, RF, fibre, quantum and AI-native capabilities to work together seamlessly across increasingly complex operational environments.

As autonomous systems become increasingly embedded within society, industry and critical infrastructure, the demands placed on communications networks are changing dramatically. From connected and autonomous vehicles, drones and low-altitude economy applications to humanoid robots, remote healthcare, intelligent machines and advanced aerospace systems, future applications will depend on connectivity that is trusted, resilient, secure and capable of supporting AI-driven decision making.

The symposium will begin with real-world challenges and end-user requirements before exploring the technologies, architectures, standards, regulation, demonstrators and commercialisation pathways needed to make future connectivity deployable at scale. Through contributions from industry, academia, government, defence and international partners, the programme will examine how next-generation networks can support increasingly autonomous systems operating across land, air, sea, space and cyber domains.

Particular attention will be given to the strategic sectors expected to place the greatest demands on future connectivity and autonomous systems:

  • Connected mobility and low-altitude economy
  • Sovereign secure communications
  • Healthcare and remote robotics
  • Aerospace and autonomous platforms

The programme will also explore the core technologies underpinning these sectors, including advanced RF, optical wireless, non-terrestrial networks, quantum networking, AI-native networking and next-generation network architectures.
