Augmentra Ltd, the company staffed by outdoor enthusiasts based at St John's Innovation Centre, Cambridge, is celebrating after their ViewRanger GPS smartphone app went to #1 in Apple iTunes navigation apps chart.

ViewRanger GPS offers clever mapping, navigation, tracking and trail content tools for outdoor enthusiasts. The app is used by a wide range of customers, from outdoor professionals to leisure users and offers detailed topographic mapping for fifteen countries around the world.

The move to #1 in iTunes follows a weekend that has seen ViewRanger GPS highlighted for its quality and excellence.

The app was selected by The Sunday Times as one of their "five-star must have" applications, in The Sunday Times guide to the best apps of the year. ViewRanger GPS was amongst just 26 apps, including games, that were selected in this ultimate category of excellence.

Then ViewRanger GPS was selected by Nokia OVI (OVI is Nokia's on-handset appstore) as their "App of the Day". Nokia highlighted how ViewRanger makes it easy to discover and access guided walking and cycling trails around you.
